What are the Basic Components to Consider?
Clients and prospects often ask us how much it costs to build and maintain a website. The answer is, "it depends." Here are some factors to consider:
  • Domain name: About $10-$13 per year. You can buy domain names from a variety of sources, including SiteBuilderGoDaddy and NameCheap.
  • Website hosting: Ranges from $19.95 to $99.95 per month, with some add-ons being extra. Our web hosting charges include email, site statistics, search engine submission tools, and all the powerful editing tools you (or we) need to create and maintain the site. (Texas customers pay sales tax.) » Details
  • PayPal and Merchant Accounts (shopping sites only): PayPal and merchant accounts require you to pay additional fees if you sell products or services through your website.

    » Merchant Account Fees
  • Website building and maintenance: No extra charge if you do it yourself. Hourly consulting rates if we do it. See our "Consulting Time Rule of Thumb" below.

Should you wish to set up a site on your own, we would be delighted to refine it for you as needed. Or we can set it up from scratch. We offer reasonable hourly rates for professional website development services and support. Please see below for more information.

How Much for a New Custom-Built Web Site?
Building a website from scratch is a creative, time-consuming process that varies by project. The time required depends on how complex the work is, whether we are setting up a shopping cart site or a site without a shopping cart, and how many photos are included. It also depends on whether you provide ready-made graphics, logos, photos, and text and how organized you are from the start. Over the years, we've come up with a rule of thumb that can help you budget the amount of consulting time you might require if we create a non-shopping cart website from scratch (shopping cart sites take more time). Be aware that some websites will require less time than this, others will require more.

Consulting Time Rule of Thumb = ~10 hours for basic design + ~ 1 to 1.5 hours per page

Example: A 20 page non-shopping cart site will require about 30-40 hours of work.

We build it, or you build it... it's entirely up to you!
